Five-star resource, but two stars off for odious document protection

Five stars for the content - using the Revised Common Lectionary, there is ample material here for every Sunday (plus Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday and Good Friday, and Ascension). The material is uniformly well thought-out, makes good use of language, and directly references the lessons of the day.
Every entry includes Call to Worship, Call to Confession, Prayer of Confession, Declaration of Forgiveness, Prayer of the Day, Prayer for Illumination, Prayer of Intercession, Invitation to the Offering, Prayer of Dedication, Charge, and Benediction. There are nine Great Prayers of Thanksgiving in the appendix, and they are excellent.
A real bonus is that each entry provides Questions for Reflection, and Household Prayers for morning and evening - superb take-home resources for worshipers.
Now for the bad news: the document protection on the CD is truly odious. Westminster/John Knox assumes that you are a criminal, and treats you as such. The CD includes two password-protected files, one in Word (.doc) format, and one in PDF. You must enter this password every single time you open the document - annoying (but very easy to fix), but the real odium is GETTING the password. You must go to a website, and you are required to give WJK your full name, address, phone number, and email. If you're unwilling to provide all that, too bad - "No password for you!" Further, for unknown and unpublished reasons, the website informed me that my email is "invalid," and I had to contact the publisher directly. And, finally, there's no privacy policy published - will I get ad-bombed by WJK? Will they give my information to their "partners"? No way to know.
If you're buying this book, you're a criminal, right? No, you're a pastor or a worship planner. Why then does WJK assume you're going to give these documents away for free? I am deeply insulted by this odious document security. The password-protection, in both formats, is ridiculously simple to remove. Give it up, WJK, this isn't a rap album, and your customers aren't going to post it on Pirate Bay (unless, perhaps, you enrage them enough). If you think this makes your content more secure, you're delusional. Yo, the password is *******. See how easy it would be to blow your "security"? All you're doing is p*ssing off your paying customers. Two stars off an otherwise excellent resource.
A further problem with the documents on the CD is that they are not keyed to the page numbers of the book, and WJK didn't bother to hyper-link the table of contents to the material in the document. If you want to copy-and-paste something on, say, page 248 of the book, you have to start at the top and scroll all the way through. There's no other way to get there. The Word version doesn't even HAVE page numbers, although both formats helpfully include two large bold lines of copyright infringement warning on every single page. WJK is far more interested in protecting their intellectual property, than they are with making it useful to those who purchase it.

Classy, useful worship resource

The Feasting on the Word Worship Companion has recently released their newest edition of worship readings for the liturgical, lectionary driven church. As usual, it is a great resource for mainline churches seeking classy, well-written, theologically sound litanies and responsive readings.
This volume in this fine series covers Advent to Pentecost in Year A. It includes the following resources for each week:
•Listing of lectionary texts
•Call to Worship
•Prayers and readings for the confession/assurance cycle
•Prayer of Day
•Prayer for Illumination
•Prayers of Intercession
•Prayers and readings for the offering
•Charge
•Blessing
•Questions for reflections on the texts
•Household prayers for the morning and the evening
Each Sunday is thoroughly resourced. The readings are smart and thoughtful without being flowery or overly wordy. The wording has theological depth without being over people's head. My only complaint is that this resource does not include an invocation for each Sunday.
In addition to the weekly resources there are several other resources. They are:
•Two baptismal liturgies
•A thorough index of Scriptures used
•Great Thanksgiving services with the following themes
◦General use
◦Advent
◦Christmas
◦Epiphany
◦Lent
◦Holy Thursday
◦Easter

The book is also on a CD-ROM that is attached with the book. This makes it helpful when cutting and pasting these resources into a PowerPoint or a church bulletin.
I love this series of resources. I have the devotionals for all three years. I also have all of the worship companion resources as well. In addition to this, I have some of the commentaries they offer for preaching. Although some of the writing comes from a more liberal background than my own, it is all solid stuff worth considering for use in worship and personal study of the Word of God.

Useful tool for Liturgical worship

The prayers and liturgy are great as a starting point for creating your own rites of worship. I rarely use resources of this nature verbatim but find these useful as thought starters and help me focus. Highly recommended - Having the companion CD or versions being released for Kindle/iPad makes editing for electronic formats easier. Again, I need the edit ability so I can re-write to my needs and then use in worship publications or projecting via PowerPoint or other worship applications.
