Detailed on grammar and syntax and of a convenient size to carry with one for those moments of boredom.

This is an excellent companion to Hans-Friedrich Mueller's publication. There is overlap one with the other but each provides slightly different explanations of the usage of forms. For those of us wading through Latin with limited access to formal mentoring, this is a book I would urge any student to have.
In addition it is of a very convenient size. I carry it with me (in addition to Mueller's appendices on my tablet) when I travel.

Warning: misleading vocabulary

3/4 of the book is vocabulary which seems to be machine generated and not reviewed too closely. So even the first chapter contains entry for 'Germani' as 'germanus' - own / full (brother) / genuine, real, actual, true. And 'fere' - almost has vocabulary entry as 'ferus' - wild, savage, etc.

Terrible and likely constructed by an automated process.

What the publishers think makes this edition special makes it dreadful to read. Moving from page to page is intolerably arduous, owing to the absurd vocabulary sections; at the very least, having links to skip the English and vocabulary sections would be useful.

These vocabulary sections, meanwhile, are rather useless: they contain every single word in the book, including such obscure terms as "et," "sum," and "ab." Basic words are repeated in every single section, and words like a/ab are included twice. The definitions appear to be copied directly from Whitaker's Words. All this makes me suspect that these are being put together by an automated process, likely taking source material from Perseus and adding the definitions from WW.

It would be far, far nicer to simply have a copy of this without the translation, and without the vocabulary, so that we could actually read it. Unfortunately, despite even having a category for them, Amazon actually doesn't allow Latin-language eBooks to be published on their site.

This is a fantastic book outlining Lincoln's life with extremely interesting information and facts. I have long wanted to read a biography of Abraham Lincoln and I have to say that this book certainly doesn't disappoint. The author has done an outstanding job of bringing the life of the amazing leader to life.

Born in 1667, Jonathan Swift was an Irish writer and cleric, best known for his works Gulliver s Travels, A Modest Proposal, and A Journal to Stella, amongst many others. Swift died in 1745, leaving the bulk of his fortune to found St. Patrick s Hospital for Imbeciles, a hospital for the mentally ill, which continues to operate as a psychiatric hospital today.

A lovely start

This short read packs a punch. If you've ever wanted to learn more about the armor of God and why it's necessary and how it all works, you'd do well to pick up this little book. Stormie's down-to-earth writing style and use of everyday life bring the scriptures to light in an understandable way. I also like how she gives extra scripture to allow the reader to study further in depth than the little booklet allows. A lovely way to start putting on the armor of God and making it a regular practice!

The author provides simple, clear explanations of the components of the "Armor of God", why each component is important, and how to "put them on". Ample Biblical references are provided. The helpful thought questions at the end of each chapter help you think deeper into each topic, and the "Get Connected" web links are a nice encouraging plus to link you with the author and other prayer warriors.

Firstly let me say that I absolutely love this series ... The plot twist honestly surprised me and I found myself so engrossed with this book that I devoured it in one sitting. Rarely does a sequel exceed how amazing the first book in a series is. The Day To Remember for me is one of the best. This was the perfect conclusion to a beautiful story about love - the passionate, unrelenting kind. It made my heart race, it made me laugh, and it at times brought tears to my eyes. I could not possibly pin point a single thing I did not like about it. I highly recommend this book and the Emma's Story series. If you love beautiful, well written love stories with intense ups and downs this book is for you. It's full of drama, yet still realistic and believable. The epic love story of Emma and Brandon will suck you in from the very beginning and not let you go until the very end. I'm actually sad this book was such a quick read for me. It was one of those books that you rush through because you have to find out what will happen next, but then once you're done you curse yourself for not savoring it.

A beautiful love story

If you haven't read the first book in this series you will find spoilers in this review.

I was given an advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review.

I happen to be one of the lucky people that read the first book in this two book series shortly before I received this book. The first book ended with a vicious cliffhanger and I'm glad I didn't have to wait long to continue the romantic story of Emma and Brandon.

The last book ended after Emma met a woman claiming to be Brandon's girlfriend. Seeing as how Brandon is the love of Emma's life this was a devastating blow. This book picks up a little less than three days after the alleged girlfriend, Desiree, showed up at Brandon's door. Needless to say Emma is in a state if shock and heartache. He's been trying desperately to get in touch with Emma, but she can't bring herself to talk to him. Luckily Brandon doesn't give up easily and finally gets to tell his side of the story. Desiree isn't exactly who she claims to be, but she is from Brandon's past. Both Brandon and Emma have secrets from their past that they're not ready to share and things seem to get back on track with them. Unfortunately Desiree brings new things to light for Brandon and he ends up keeping more secrets from Emma. Meanwhile Emma still has her own past and secret that she is yet to share with Brandon. All of the lies and secrets between them could possibly destroy the relationship they've both worked so hard for.

I was pretty sure I was going to love this book after reading A Night to Forget and I was not disappointed. Emma and Brandon's story is full of ups and downs, and though a bit dramatic (what's a love story without a little drama), it rings true to life. Brandon and Emma are both well developed throughout the two books and extremely human and realistic. I fell instantly in love with these two characters and I found myself tearing through the pages to find out what would happen next and ultimately if they would have their happily ever after in the end. I don't want to give anything away, but this book ended perfectly for me. It was everything I was hoping for.

The writing itself manages to be both smooth and lyrical at times. The book is well paced and nicely organized. It's written from both Emma's and Brandon's points of view and this added depth to the story. I always love reading male points of view from both female and male writers. I thoroughly enjoyed Jessica Wood's take on the male perspective.

great conclusion

A great conclusion for Brandon and Emma!! Hes literally her dream man!! What started in her dreams, continued in Emmas day to day life. Secrets from both their pasts continue to plague them as they try to learn to build a life together and trust! And it dosent help when Brandon's ex shows up unannounced and ready to stir trouble!! Jessica delivered a great story, and i was very happy with ending!!! Will recommend to friends and look for more from this author!

great read definitly won't disappoint

i would like to start with another home run. this book start where you left off in a night to forget. you have poor emma trying to understand how her relationship could have just changed in one night, then how could the man of her dreams literally let her down so bad. she is determine to not let this break her. at the same time brandon is so confused not sure what just happen, first he has the woman he is madly in love with the next she is running out of his life. you read the story and you can definitely relate to the way emma handles the relationship, she does what any woman would do call your girlfriends and plan the next move. but she does realize that it is going to be harder then she thinks. in the process of trying to forget she meets Damian at the bar. will love be able to keep them together or will des have her way and split them up for good. with every page you will have love, hope, lies and deception that could have been avoided. you will turn every page wanting to know whats next, does she go does she stay. can they work through it all or will Damian be the final release. this book will not disappoint. i had the pleasure of seeing this story grow and i really enjoyed every aspect of there story. thanks jessica for putting the story to paper and allowing me to read your work.

totally hooked on the Academy

I read a lot but never have I become so quickly obsessed with a group of characters as those in the Academy series. I've read all 3 books twice and am eagerly awaiting #4. I can't put my finger on what makes these books different. The characters (9 gorgeous boys) are likable and just the kind of loyal friends anyone would love to have. The protagonist, Sang, is brave yet insecure, wants to fit in but is quite innocent. Her knowledge of relationships is limited to what she's read in books and her abusive family. The way the guys take her in and accept her is heartwarming and amazing. You just know they are all in love with her, or at least very infatuated, but above all they want to keep her safe and protect her.

There's more to the story that has yet to be revealed about this mysterious Academy and the writer lures you in, makes you want to discover the secrets. There are typos and grammar errors but these were easily overlooked by me because the characters were so well written, the story was so compelling. I'm not a young adult reader, either. I read all genres, and have been for over 50 years, and this series has me as obsessed with 10 people as I've ever been. Highly recommended!

Loving it still...

I love it when you find a book that holds you tightly and even when you are going through your day draws you back as soon as time allows. That is the Academy Series. You get to watch a relationship blooming from Sang and these Seven Wonderful boys/men and you can't help finding one you cheer for. The three books are amazing and I am so excited that the series is going to continue. The Academy still lets you fall in love with Sang and lets you emotionally attach yourself to her. You can't help feel for her. It does take time for her to grow and learn to accept the boys and their offer of friendship. I love the fact it doesn't happen overnight. Watching the relationship with each of the boys and Sang is amazingly written and one can see how they feel for her. If you want to become addicted to a wonderful story, with wonderful characters that become alive and embedded into your heart then you should read this series. It is amazing and you will not be sorry.

I love love love this series! Sang isn't like the normal characters I read about, but you really feel for her the deeper into this series you get. She's really shy and timid but you can tell she's starting to come into her own. I love all the guys too! I liked at the end it was from kotas point of view, and we gathered that all the guys(and Mr blackbourne from the end of book 2) like her and are interested in her but it would be nice to read some from everyone's point of view throughout the story, including Mr Blackbourne and Dr green. I really hope in book four things are a little easier for sang and she gets more comfortable with herself and the guys and things work out. Some people said they'd like to see more girls come into the mix for the guys but I don't agree with that, I'd like for there to be more I guess I'd say romantic moments to see who sang is interested in, and who's really interested in her for her and not to protect her and all that. I can't wait until book four comes out to see what happens next! I have to say I'm team Victor! Maybe kota if he can start to actually show sang he's interested in her

Okay read for now.

A good read and an interesting bit of history from post-war Texas of the 1860's. It's hard to find accounts of day to day army life in that period and, although maybe not the best, this book is certainly worth the time if you are interested in this time and place. I hope there are better ones to be found, but until I find one, this will fill a nice spot in my collection.

A realistic look at the ordinary soldier

An interesting insight into the times, it is perhaps too realistic. The book is more of a series of journal entries than a historical compendium. It is a great review of the life of a typical soldier of the times. Thus it suffers from a lack of violence that many readers might be seeking. Notwithstanding the above, I found myself burning through it pretty quickly.

Abraham Lincoln is president elect and soon to take office, but many are not happy with the nations choice to lead.
There is a plot to assassinate Mr. Lincoln as he passes through Baltimore Maryland. Alan Pinkerton the nations top law official is out to uncover and expose the conspirators along with the help of Kate Warne,a young widow and the nations first female detective.What transpires is a race to expose those involved and to protect Mr. Lincoln as he travels to become President of the United States.

This was a great but little known story of an attempt on Lincolns life before he became president and even before the civil war started. We get a great back ground story of all those involved and especially Alan Pinkerton, a man considered before his time or a liar and low class fraud depending on which camp your in.
We see a young woman desperate to provide a living, become what no one would have considered proper or even achievable for the time, a female detective. It was through her hard work that much of the plot was discovered and how she was held in such high esteem by Pinkerton that she is even entombed in the family plot in Chicago Illinois.

This was a great story and well researched with little known facts being uncovered or brought to attention such as Maryland's state song MY Maryland, My Maryland actually being at hate song of Lincoln. This should be read and known by more, both for the information being presented and as a interesting story. High praise to Mr. Daniel Stashower for a great work.

An absolutely fascinating book

Few history books spend much time on the time between Lincoln’s election and the firing on Fort Sumter; and of those that do, most only mention in passing his slipping through Baltimore to avoid a possible assassination plot. Personally, from my own readings, I had always assumed that the worry about assassination was misplaced, almost laughable.

Well, in this fascinating book, author and historian Daniel Stashower looks at the “Baltimore Plot,” and presents the evidence that caught the attention of Detective Allan Pinkerton and others. He presents it in all its details, both that that corroborates the idea that there was a serious conspiracy to murder the President-elect, and that which seems to undermine it. Along the way, the reader is treated to a very interesting biography of Allan Pinkerton.

I must say that I found this to be an absolutely fascinating book. It really did open up for me this little-known event, and really gave me food for thought. It does appear that there was a serious conspiracy, and that Mr. Lincoln was right to take all necessary precautions in that era before presidential security was taken into consideration.

So, if you are a history buff, or a fan of Abraham Lincoln, or just like a good mystery, then I think that you will enjoy this book. I loved every minute of the time I spent with it, and am very glad that I read it!

When Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865 there was no Secret Service or elaborate presidential security detail. Americans expected their President to be approachable in a way that is unimaginable today. In fact, the American democratic ideal made it imperative that the president be accessible to ordinary citizens. The spectacle of elaborate presidential guards seemed to question the viability of a republic where power rested with the people.

John Wilkes Booth changed all that. After Lincoln's death a wall went up around the chief executive that would grow almost impenetrable in the coming decades.

All Americans know about Lincoln's assassination at Ford's Theatre, but many have never heard of the "Baltimore Plot." Some historians feel that this plot (real or imagined) might have cost Lincoln his life even before the Civil War began.

The "Baltimore Plot" is still controversial among historians. All agree that there was virulent anti-Lincoln sentiment in Maryland that caused the president-elect to bypass Baltimore on the way to his inauguration. But there is still disagreement on the size and scope of the actual threat. Were there organized assassins waiting or just angry hotheads talking? Whatever the truth, those around Lincoln were extremely concerned, and the passions of some citizens of Baltimore foreshadowed those of the coming war.

Maryland was a slave state and many of its residents passionately desired secession. Lincoln knew that keeping the Old Line State in the union was critical to his success. He hoped to show his goodwill by a last stop in Baltimore before proceeding on to Washington to be sworn in. He later deeply regretted his decision to yield to his advisors and bypass it.
Among those advisors was a detective named Allan Pinkerton. Pinkerton would eventually found one the best known detective agencies in the world. The agency's iconic logo-an unblinking eye-gave birth to the term. "Private eye." The agency's slogan was "We Never Sleep."

Pinkerton pioneered devices like disguises and planted agents to do his work. He even employed a female agent, Kate Warne, who proved as brave and resourceful as any man. Pinkerton claimed to have uncovered numerous plots to kill Lincoln in Baltimore. The detective gained Lincoln's confidence and Lincoln eventually yielded to his pleas. The inaugural train carrying the "Rail-splitter" secretly passed through the city unnoticed. The usually courageous Abraham Lincoln even consented to a disguise so he would not be recognized.

The Baltimore incident propelled Pinkerton's career into high gear, although his critics felt he had exaggerated the threats to promote himself. In any case his career took off: His firm would become the premier detective agency in the United States in the late 19th Century. In addition to its renowned investigative work, the Pinkertons would also become closely identified with strikebreaking. This is ironic, because in his native Scotland Pinkerton had been poor and worked with pro-labor movements. He even marched with the Chartists.

Stashower's narrative is crisp and exciting. His book is a good recounting of the story. It is also an accurate portrait of a nation on the verge of coming apart. The jury is still out as to the full facts of the "Baltimore Plot;" Scholars continue to deliberate. In the meantime this a good basic narrative of the incident. It is colorful, exciting, and (fittingly), a good detective story!

Hilarious To The Core!!!

I have always been a huge fan of the Angry Birds so I didn't hesitate once before going for this one, to my surprise it was full off these hilarious memes which you just can't stop reading. They are great for sharing in messaging groups and it never fails to make people laugh, I would recommend this to anyone who wants a brilliant collection of Angry Birds memes.
